I am changing providers and my understanding is that when I do this my emails will not be available to me once that is done. What about my address books? If I copy and paste my profile once I set up Thunderbird with the new provider will I have those address books?

When using web video conferencing services (Google Meet, Teams, etc.) that run in the browser, on a Windows system, Firefox only offers a single output device: the system-configured Default Device. It does not offer the system-configured Default Communication Device. (I can swap the default before a call, but that is cumbersome at the end of the day.)

In this instance, the default is the speakers built into my screen, through HDMI. The communication default is my headset, which also provides the microphone (which is recognised and works fine).

The issue is not experienced with Chrome (the only other tried). It has been an issue through many years, on multiple machines, with various default sudio out devices attached.

i have recently acquired a new PC and want to transfer all my Firefox settings to the new PC and have two questions:- (1) What file and what location do I post the file for Homepage shortcuts which involves 4 rows x 8 = 32 shortcuts that I want to transfer to the new PC without having to do it manually. Apparently Sync wont do it for some reason that I fail to comprehend. By searching this site I have found answers that say the file "prefs.js" hold these values. However, I have copied that file from my old PC onto the new PC but no result? Where should the file be copied from and to (full path from and to)? i have used "about:profiles" but then there are paths to "default" and "root". (2) I have exported the the Bookmarks from my old PC to the new PC but in one particular case the bookmarks are not the same. In this case I have a particularly large bookmark that contains three (3) Sub-Folders plus many individual bookmarks. When importing the file it does not include all the sub-folders - only two. This baffles me because if is exported with three sub-folders I don't understand how the imported Bookmark file can be different. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Not sure whether this is related to an update on apple iOS 17.6.1 or Firefox focus. At one point it worked, then last update on both ends I'll say for now this problem reoccured again.

I use an apple iPad 11 Pro with Magic Keyboard. If i wanna type in the URL bar it simply doesnt allow for the curser to be placed in that area, however, if I detach the iPad from the Magic Keyboard the function returns and now I'm able to place curser in url bar and being typing an address.

Prior to this problem reoccurring once more with one of the updates, it was fine for a couple of months (perhaps from may till august - best guess but I have no idea), but before may (lets say) I also dealt with the same exact problem for over a year or more.

Is it possible to use authentication with SCRAM-SHA-256 for SMTP and IMAP? I tried with the Thunderbird version 102.10.1 but failed to get that authentication. It doesn't seem to support SCRAM-SHA-256 from the error message. Could you please help me to solve this problem?

I run Thunderbird on a PC, and, to free up space on Drive C:, I have moved the contents of the folder Thunderbird in Appdata to Drive D:. I then changed my Server Settings, in Thunderbird, from C: to D:, and note that any new mail is indeed now appearing there along with those already transferred. This move could save me a valuable 6 gig of space, and more in the future, however, I am unable to remove that original Thunderbird folder entirely, notably I am unable to remove the contents of the Profiles folder, as it is still linked to the application. Notably with cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite-shm, store.json, mozlz4, aborted-session-ping and many others, which I note some have continued to be updated. I have been unable to find any other settings in Thunderbird referring to Drive C:, other than those in Server Settings.

I could presume that if I installed another version of Thunderbird on Drive D: and maybe moved those existing contents of the Thunderbird folder on C: onto Drive D:, and made those numerous settings changes to the App it could work. But I ask is there an easier way to complete this move? How can I complete this transition of Thunderbird from Drive C: to Drive D:?

New computer setup. Fresh install of windows 10 and the latest TB.

Turning primary password on like I always have, its now telling me I need to use my windows password as my primary. Who really sat down and thought this through and thought this was a good idea and then coded it into the platform? How do I use whatever password I want and get rid of this asinine default behavior.

I can't receive new emails on my Thunderbird account because every time I try to refresh my inbox, I get this message:

‘An error has occurred while saving your messages. Make sure that the file system gives you write rights and that you have enough free disk space to copy the inbox’.

No problem with webmail.

We have another computer in the office connected to Thunderbird that receives all our emails. All the settings are the same, except that we haven't updated Thundebird.

We use a POP system.

When I logged on this morning and opened Thunderbird, it downloaded headers of messages but when I opened them there was no sender or content, just a code _005_BN8PR14MB2900509BCA163B950DE51AAC9AE59BN8PR14MB2900namp_--

Some time ago Thunderbird changed from downloaded header and message as one, to downloading all the headers and then downloading the message content. At the moment I can access old messages but none that have tried to download this morning.

Can anyone help please?

I am new to Thunderbird having just installed version 128.2.1esr. I am trying to build distribution lists, what you refer to as mailing lists. Your support document says to open the Address Book then Select File>New>Mailing List. When I try to do this after selecting File>New Mailing List does not come up as an option. Is there another way to build my lists? Thanks
