Hello I use Windows Thunderbird with many different mail accounts. I'd like to phase out one of them, and send back an auto reply asking the senders to change to my other email address. I did not find the way to set it up for only one phased out account (old email address). Any hint ? Thanks

Hi,

I had an old question about PDF's showing inside the email, but I did not have evidence. I now have a pdf that shows in line, in Thunderbird, and one that does not.

Would this help in developing and allowing Thunderbird to show Pdfs in line?

Thanks a lot

I am grateful for the recently added ability to see a sender's URL in the "From" column. However, the URL is always preceded by a name or some other text; and when sorting the list in any folder on From, it sorts on the preceding text, not on the URL itself.

That prefix text is often (to me) meaningless and/or useless. I want to be able to sort on the URL itself without involving the text. If this is already possible I haven't figured out how to do it. If it's not possible now, I request that it be made available as a configurable option.

Why do I get this alert message across the bottom of my screen when I double-click to open an email in my INbox? It is in a yellow box across the bottom of a pre-populated draft 'return to the sender" email.

A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and setting from identity Robert Hill <arnilmmproductions@gmail.com>"

It doesn't mark the original email as 'Read' when I close it. But if I right click on it, it gives me the option of opening it a new Tab, a new Window, or a Conversation.

The problem seems to recur after a Thunderbird upgrade.

Hoping to get your response and a solution soon. Thank you.

Android Thunderbird is working ok but my contacts from the Linux Thunderbird did not come over and writing emails from there is difficult without my contacts. How do I port over the Linux Fedora Thunderbird contacts to my Android Thunderbird?

I am trying to set-up a filter that matches e-mails having all their contacts (sender, recipients, ...) from a single fixed domain (e.g. company.tld). It means that any e-mail having at least 1 contact (sender/recipient) not from company.tld would not trigger the filter. Is there a way to do this with standard Thunderbird filters? I also tried to use a regexp on the header with FiltaQuilla extension but it is not trivial.

Any help would be welcome. Thanks, Olivier

Hi there- After a round with ChatGPT and many o' google searches, I still have not found the reason why the text color change tool in the formatting bar in Thunderbird (128.5.1esr) for Mac is not working.

Specifically, I see other HTML formatting working when composing an email, but I do not see any color changes. I have enabled and disabled the formatting bar; changed the sending format between Plain and HTML; unchecked Default Text Colors....and a few more steps I may be forgetting.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Compose window: reduce wasted space and increase space for headers?

Hi,

Please see the attached image.

In the header section of the compose window, the header fields and field labels are indented from the left edge of the window. This design wastes space and reduces the space available for the "From", "To" and "Subject" fields. The designers seemed to assume that everyone would use a very wide compose window. But text is composed and read more easily in a narrower column of text. The attached image shows a typical width in my use. Note that the sender's e-mail address does not even appear and the sender's e-mail account name is truncated.

Question 1: Why was the window designed this way? (Am I not understanding something?)

Question 2: Is there some way to move field labels and fields, perhaps with a setting in the Config Editor, to the left edge of the window?

Question 3: How does a person suggest/request a design change?

Many thanks for any help.

Rick

We use Thunderbird as our e-mail client on multiple computers. We also have multiple e-mail providers. On one of our computers we can receive but not send in one of the verizon.net e-mails configured in Thunderbird. All of the critical outgoing settings, are the same except for the e-mail address, Description: Verizon Online, Sever Name smtp.verizon.net, Port 465 Connection Security Normal Password, user name different for each account. I have looked around on the Web and not found any solutions that worked. Thanks very much.

In 2016, whilst importing emails into Apple Mail, about 20,000 email were given the date and times of the import instead of the date from the Received Header. Luckily Thunderbird has retrieved the emails from my IMAP server and given them what appear to be the correct dates. Meh knowledge of the tech behind this is very limited. Anyway, my question is, how can I export a fresh mbox or other format of mail folder with Thunderbird applying the correct dates to each of the messages?
