In a thread discussion about the flag, "browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory" dated 23-Nov-2022 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33706117) it was mentioned that we've disabled tab unloading on Linux because low-memory detection just didn't work.

Has the issue been fixed? Does the low-memory detection work in Linux? Can it be enabled now?

Does it get triggered when SWAP is being used? Or when system free RAM falls say to about 25% of total physical RAM?

Hi, I’ve been using Thunderbird, but after installation it’s taking up 128GB of disk space. That seems unusually large — could you please help check what might be causing this?

When switching from FF 128esr to 140esr our customers noticed a massive impact in performance for certain webapplications. All Applications effected heavily use pdf-files, users are working mostly exclusive in firefox. Performance is ok when the day starts but gets bad fast. Sooner or later working is no longer possible and firefox needs to be restarted.

The users work on Citrix Desktops, but difference in performance is also seen in Firefox localy (not as bad but its there). Cross-tests with another browser are not possible, because the application works only in FF.

We tried removing almost all policies effective to rule out a specific hardening setting We tried every setting we could find linked to cache (as it seemed related to that) but without success. We collected logs with the Firefox-internal Tools but could not identify a specific Problem.

Firefox android, even without all the extension it takes atleast 25% of my battery 5k mah (in an hr). Firefox being default browser for years I can tolerate it but PLEASE can you optimize it more so it won't be a hassle,thank you.

Some websites won't load at all while other are very slow to load but some will load just fine, example Crunchyroll (screenshot attached) won't load at all its just spinning loading icon and a white page but if I try it in a different browser it works just fine, but with Youtube it will load but is choppy and low quality videos and same thing as before I load it in a different browser and no problems. I have tried every possible solution I can find from clearing cookies and cache to refreshing Firefox even scanned for malware and virus nothing has worked please help me figure out what is happening and why it's only with Firefox that I am having this problem and its not hardware can play online just fine and download games from steam perfectly fine.

My Firefox browser on Android is very slow. YouTube videos buffer and lag. Pages take a long time to load. Sometimes Firefox freezes or crashes. Please help me fix performance and video playback issues. My phone has limited RAM and storage

The Inbox on my Thunderbird emails shows 224 messages but do not open. I have tried opening and deleting but to no avail.

IMPORTANTLY I am still receiving new emails.

When i minimize, it starts "eating" ram the computer crashed when it consumed 59GB of ram.. suspect memory leak.. One solution is turning it off after checked for mail...But i kinda want it minimized so i don't have to check by starting it every now and then..

I don't understand. Firefox is eating up memory again in the latest versions, and on top of that, it's the GPU on my PC.

4GB for the app and up to 8GB.

I am using Thunderbird 115.18.0 and Windows 7 professional (no snarky comments please).

All has been working fine for years, but in the last few days, strange thing have been happening:

In the pane with all of my email accounts, the ">" icon to the left of the first account has been disappearing. This meant I could not look at any folders, including Inbox, Drafts, Sent etc and handmade folders. Cured by closing and opening Thunderbird.

I now have two Archive folders, one called Archive, the other Archives. Both empty, neither can be deleted.

Periodically, when the ">" is present, selecting it (to "V"), the list of folders SLOWLY appears, one folder at a time.

Periodically, the bottom of the Thunderbird window, shows a 'downloading' message, of hundreds of files. Several GB of data has been downloaded over a couple of days.

Opening the Inbox folder, the pane with subject, correspondents, date etc has changed the sort order.

Sometimes, all of the emails in this pane have had their font underlined.

Nothing on my system has intentionally changed,

Any ideas what has gone wrong, and how to put things right would be appreciated.

Since updating to Thunderbird 140.7.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11, moving messages from Inbox to any folder takes about 7 seconds.

Details:

Account type: IMAP (Cogeco)

Happens in all folders

Inbox has ~600 messages (not large)

Was working normally before the recent update

Delay occurs every time moving a message from Inbox to another folder

No freezing — just a delay before the move completes

No antivirus changes

Issue started immediately after update

This appears to be related to IMAP sync behavior introduced in 140.x.

Has anyone else reported this, or is there a known regression?

When I first open K9Mail 16.0 or after scrolling to the top of the message list, the message does not disappear from the list after I open a message, select move, and choose a folder. The message will no longer be clickable after I do this. However, it will remain displaying in the list until I start scrolling the message list, at which point the list updates and removes the moved message.

Please fix this bug.

For some time now, TB (147.0.1 (64-bit)) has been VERY slow loading, the first thing in the morning. If I close it and re-open, it opens at the normal--and desirable!--speed. Any thoughts? Regards, Dave
