Firefox crashes several times a day

more options

Firefox keeps crashing 6-8 times a day. It's getting incredibly ridiculous.

here are several crash ID's bp-20b6a4d0-d5ae-4e43-9fb9-47f482140325 6c8a0232-1b0b-48bd-983b-93c3df8ac97a bp-5d10d744-3653-473c-8756-80c522140317 bp-b7181137-d851-4e3f-bd89-7006f2140315 5c9b2a18-7c5e-45cd-83f7-a0e08cd3536d 3b6cf471-f407-4aa8-9a6e-9b9e332e4f17 0e3036ec-d1fe-4997-af4a-6dbc9f6a0e9f 698a259d-8daf-4bd6-9c64-e3a39d450491

Is it an option to upgrade to a newer version of Firefox?

Those 3 crash reports (1 hang and 2 crashes) are completely different from one another, so I don't see a pattern there.

Have you noticed any pattern related to particular sites or types of content?

To elaborate on the version issue, version 17 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 28? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

If you need a full installer for Firefox 28, you can use this page (scroll down to your preferred language): https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Not sure why it only shows 3 crash reports as i posted about 8.

here are some others 6c8a0232-1b0b-48bd-983b-93c3df8ac97a 5c9b2a18-7c5e-45cd-83f7-a0e08cd3536d 3b6cf471-f407-4aa8-9a6e-9b9e332e4f17 0e3036ec-d1fe-4997-af4a-6dbc9f6a0e9f

There doesn't seem to be a theme. I'll just go to different websites - google, simple html sites with just text pages that are opened via java, etc. always crashes if i download a torrent.

i went to the firefox homepage the other day and it said i was up to date, so i thought i was up to date with 17

Oh, if the crash IDs do not start with bp- on the about:crashes page, then the forum doesn't make them clickable. You might need to click through them first to ensure they were submitted.

I noticed in your plugins 3 different Flash players:

  • Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
  • Shockwave Flash 11.5 r502
  • Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102

If you can see all of these on the Add-ons page, please disable the two older ones. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Never Activate" for the older ones.

If Firefox doesn't display them there, you may need to manually remove them. On 64-bit Windows 7, they normally live here:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

The plugins used by Firefox have this name pattern

NPSWF32_(version number).dll
