Why am I unable to open new tabs from my toolbar like I normally do?

more options

I have google as my homepage, I have my email and my facebook as a pin in the toolbar and I have for quite some time opened other tabs to check school email and things on my online learning page for school. I was able to do this as recently as 4 hours ago, now I cannot open new tabs. Not sure what happened, I disabled add-ons like the post suggested and nothing.

Hello aprillthompson,

I would also suggest you update to the latest version of Firefox, but the Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Hello,

Is the issue that you are not able to open new tabs at all. Either by pressing Ctr+T or by selection a new tab option from the menu. Is that the issue you are facing?

Thank you

P.S: Also, you seem to be using an older version of Firefox. I would suggest you to upgrade to the latest version so that you have the latest fixes.

That is the issue I am having. Ok as far as the older version, why would I have been able to open tabs all day until just about an hour ago and now I cannot, why would it all of a sudden happen?

If you open a new window (Ctrl+n, or through the menu), can you open new tabs in that window?

When you say you disabled add-ons, do you mean?

  • Testing in Firefox Safe Mode using Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Manually disabling plugins or extensions on the Add-ons page -- Ctrl+Shift+a or orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

Yes in the help menu I disabled and restarted. Also, I just upgraded and still cannot open a new tab. I press Ctrl+n and I get a new window no problem, but I cannot open a new tab on my toolbar
