When I attempt to access google.com, I get the "untrusted connection" message. When I then view the certificate, it shows this:

organization: DO_NOT_TRUST common name: DO_NOT_TRUST_FiddlerRoot organizational unity: created by: http://www.fiddler2.com

So now what do I do? I have run multiple scans - microsoft security, malwarebytes anti-malware.

You're welcome.

If you do not intent to use Fiddler then you can uninstall this program via the Windows Control Panel (Programs). You can leave the connection setting to no proxy, that shouldn't cause problems.

Check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

I followed your suggestions, but no luck. Thank you anyway. Any other suggestions?

Can you reproduce in a new profile as a test?

Sorry to say, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Fiddler (fiddler2.com) is a web proxy to check out the network (internet )traffic.

So it sounds that you have installed this program and that it builds its own connection and send its own certificate to Firefox instead of the website's certificate.

Fiddler install as the system proxy, so if you select "no proxy" like I suggested above then fiddler shouldn't have worked anymore.

You may need to clear the cache and possibly the cookies.

Thank you! It worked. Can I leave it set to "No Proxy"? Or should I change it back?

When I go into the control panel - uninstall programs - I cannot find Fiddler. I never - intentionally- downloaded it. If, as you say, leaving "no proxy" is not a problem - great! I'll just leave it. Thank you again! Much appreciated.
