Dear Sirs.

I ask the help of you to remove the software v9 Firefox browser. I've tried various actions in an attempt to remove it, but without success. I'm seriously considering uninstalling Mozilla Firefox and use another browser. But I think there is a solution and I am appealing to you to get this help.

Thank you.

Chosen solution

hello fabio, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc - others have reported it might specifically come under the name "Proxy Tool"). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and/or a different tool like the free version of malwarebytes.

Thanks very much for the help. V9 was indeed masquerading as "Proxy tool."

How to remove the hijack v9.com from Firefox's new tab.

Here's the resolution!!

v9.com is a hijack program and it changes the registry and the program start shortcut link, and make it the default tab of the firefox!!

So, just remove it from registry and shortcut link, and we will get rid of it now.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\FIREFOX.EXE\shell\open\command (You should keep search v9.com and find and remove)

From :

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe http://en.v9.com/?utm_source=b&utm_medium=sof&from=sof&uid=HitachiXHDS723020BLA642_MN5220F322HYJK22HYJKX&ts=1369009630

To :

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

How to start windows registry editor :

Windows --> Start --> Run Program "regedit" --> Search "v9.com" (repeat)

Hi dyeary, try disabling ALL extensions on the following tab. Sometimes the names are unrelated or deceptive:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Restart Firefox.

Next, clear out all v9 settings from Firefox's about:config preferences editor:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste v9 and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Right-click each setting and choose Reset. If there are many, you can right-click using the mouse in your right hand and press the r key with your left hand to move through the list quickly.

Any luck?

According to one page, this software might also modify the Windows desktop shortcut you use to start Firefox. If you right-click it, choose Properties, and then check the Target line on the Shortcut tab, make sure it doesn't have their site tacked on at the end.

Hi dyeary:

Just find and clean all of it from registry. You dont need to reinstall anything.
