How did the Hoot Suite Hootlet get on my toolbar?
I was having a problem with my toolbars being gone, none of the answers were helping. Then I noticed something called a "Hootlet" on my toolbar (address bar). It comes from HootSuite. It's not installed on my computer, it's not listed in Mozilla add ons. I don't know where it came from or how to delete it.

It sounds like it is just a bookmarklet that lets you add things to the hootsuit social network quickly. I'd try starting Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode and resetting all toolbars and such to default. You could also just try right clicking on it and deleting it.
You could also try creating a new profile.

Resetting the toolbars did get rid of it, although I'm still not sure how it got there? It wasn't in my add ons, no files to be found on my computer...Thank you for the quick reply and suggestion.
With bookmarklets it is just like a bookmark, so probably pretty benign. I'd search your bookmarks using CTRL + SHIFT + B for it just to sure it isn't still there. You could also take a look at the Malware KB article just to be safe.
