I'm running 10.0.2 and I get multiple tabs when i first start firefox saying i need to install updated add ons. i go thru each one and click add and then restart firefox and all is fine. later when i turn my laptop back on and then start firefox I get the same message. firefox isn't saving or acknowledging that the add ons have already been installed. what do I need to do to fix this?

Try the Bitdefender forum if you can't disable that feature in the program.

Hi,

Please try deleting all the extensions.* files in the Firefox Profile Folder after exiting Firefox. You can also open the profile folder via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder. Firefox will detect the add-ons and create the database afresh and ask again at the next startup. Choose Allow and Continue on all the tabs, but click Restart only on the last tab. I just tried that and it does the same thing. It will accept the the add ons on restart and I can open and close firefox and all is good. when i restart the laptop and then open firefox i get all the install add on tabs again.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization features that can cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

You can try to temporarily stop browser virtualization/sandboxing/protection or browser folder/settings protection until at least all the necessary add-ons have been successfully installed. Please also see this. The Bitdefender support could be also very helpful regarding the optimal settings.

Please also try deleting the compatibility.ini file in the profile folder.

I get this message in multiple tabs (different add ons for each tab) along with my normal home page.

Please check if this happens in a new profile. If the new profile is okay you can start using it, and later copy the needed personal data like bookmarks, history, passwords, personal certificates etc. from the old profile. You can then delete or troubleshoot the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in another location (profile folder), separate from its folder/files. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in Tools (Alt + T) > Options and about:config, and usually would also be empty of Extensions and themes (Appearance) in Tools > Add-ons, and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website Cache/Cookies/Data/Preferences: Tools > Clear Recent History.
