I now have firefox at the top of my screen, then file, edit etc, then welcome tab, then back, forward, then my book marks and then a little space below for my pages... if it gat any smallet it will look like my iPhone!!!!

Please see Customizing. You can hide/show elements via View (Alt + V) > Toolbars.
