drop down box problems

I'm using ff 9.0.1. After clearing the internet cache, internet history, cookies, download history, and session, the drop down box stopped working. When I want to go to a site, the drop down box doesn't drop down. The sites I normally visit are no longer there. While the bookmarks are still present, I can't visit the sites I normally visit. Also, the autofill doesn't work either. Say I want to go to nytimes.com. The address bar won't autofill nytimes.com after typing in ny. How do I fix the problem?
