After I upgraded to the latest v8.01 I have lost all my tabbed sites and even when trying to add them and save them with the Tools>Options>General>Start up>when Firefox starts selected feature "show my windows and tabs from last time" it does not hold the saved sites and when browser is restarted it always loses all the tabs and only shows one tab with Firefox home webpage. I need to have several sites open to work and the only way to do that now is to make sure I click the "Use current pages" under General Option in Tools. It is getting very annoying because I keep changing my tabs to different websites during a session and I am used to just closing the browser, relying on having them all back in when restarting Firefox.

Chosen solution

Did you try to delete that file or move it to another location?

There should also be a file sessionstore.bak that holds the previous session, i.e. is the file sessionstore.js as found at the start of the current session and that is used to restore the previous session via "History > Restore Previous Session".

Also make sure that Firefox closes properly and that there aren't any hanging Firefox processes

Make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the Browsing History when you close Firefox.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

I have tried all your listed solution before I posted the problem, except for the "problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder", I did not know about.

And that was the cause of my problem. After I followed your sessionstore files instructions, it all worked well and only one new sessionstore.js file got recreated after browser restart. Now I have my open tabs back, whenever I start my browser.

Very gratefull. Many thanks.

There only one sessionstore.js and is there any other way to solve it?

I haven't try to delete it. Where is sessionstore.bak?

I have also updated all my Add ons, as they change with each browser upgrade, and many are not available anymore and need to be replaced by newer ones.

There are Java updates you always need to keep up to date. Click on Tools > Add-ons > Plugins > click "Check to see if your plugins are up to date" at the top of the page. Update all and especially the Java plugins. The session files are Java files.

I did all this originally, before my first post.
