My download of new Firefox apparently successful but screen- after rebooting - says I am stil using the old version of Firefox -Help.

Help Menu -> About Firefox

  • which version is being displayed now ??

-> Uninstall Firefox from your computer

  • DO NOT SELECT TO REMOVE USER DATA AND SETTINGS
  • Restart your system

-> Download latest Firefox version from one of these links using some other Web Browser:

-> How to install Firefox on Windows

Check and tell if its working.

Your User Agent string shows that you are using Firefox 3.5.7.

Perform the steps mentioned in Reset Your User Agent section in the following link:

Check and tell if its working.

After you perform the above steps, go to Help Menu -> About Firefox

Thanks mha007 for your prompt reply. Sadly, your suggestion does not work - at least for me. It is now 9.45pm in Adelaide South Australia and maybe my head is not functioning as it should. Perhaps I will just soldier on with the current version - it seems to work fine. I was just a little ambitious. Again thanks for your assistance. Regards Warren

I am pleased to report that the uninstall and install passed off without a hitch. I have been away for several days and have just now returned home.

I now have current Firefox!

I have installed 25 times cleared and installed again but firefox says I need new version. I am now ready to hang myself with frustration
