How do I find a question I've already asked?

more options

I asked a question earlier and got an email saying there was an answer. I clicked on the link in the email and got to this "Firefox Help" site but Firefox crashed before I could get through the login to see the answer. I now cannot find my question with the answer. Since I have an ID I expected to be able to go to some sort of account page where there would be links to my activity but I can't find anything like that. ("Dashboard" doesn't seem to be it.) The Search function just bounces me around between various canned answer but doesn't show my question.

Chosen solution

I think it's strange that the Dashboard doesn't list your questions, but Google does index them eventually, so you could try this search:

site:support.mozilla.com inurl:questions bertilak - Google Search

(Just to be clear, my Dashboard doesn't list my questions either, it seems to be a limitation of the forum software.)

Hmm -- some advanced Googling! Worked like a champ.

Thanks.

FYI, All questions you posted are in "My Contributions". After you log-in, you'll see the "My Contributions" tab .

Edit: Sorry, of course, I use that all the time to follow up on my replies.

It's at the top of the list of posts:

Sort: Most Recent | Most Requested Show: All | Unsolved | Solved | No Replies | My Contributions

(Maybe it's clearer in an image...)

I do not see that.

I know I'm logged in because it says "Welcome Bertilak" at the top but the page says:

 =======================================
 Contributor Forums Dashboard
 No recent activity.

There are three tabs on the right:

  • Review
  • My profile
  • Edit my profile

Ah -- now I get it!

EDIT: I take that back!

I can only get to the link if I have ALREADY been sent to the forums via the email link. Logging in cold, all I see is what I posted just above.

This means I'm with WnderWman on this.

When one first logs in, how does one navigate to the forums?

I am having the same problem, but I don't see how you got the the form support pages that gives the options you mention jscher2000

WnderWman, It's the home page of the Support Forum. Once you log in, do not go anywhere, you are at the home page already. See attached screenshot.

And to get to the forum home page:

https://support.mozilla.com/questions

silkphoenix when I sign in to the support homepage it does not look like that. It does not go to a list of questions, it stays the same as when you first go to the page, showing a search bar and quick link options for support.

jscher2000 this is correct link, but how did you get to it from homepage? I appreciate the answer and the link, but I would like to know how to get there.

I would attached an image so you could see exactly what I am talking about , but don't know how to.

I don't think there is a direct link from the support home page to the forum. I think most people would end up in the forums either through a search result that is a forum thread, or using the link below the search results: "Can't find what you're looking for? Ask a support question instead!"

When reading a forum thread, the breadcrumb trail has a link back to the main listing:

Firefox Help / Forum / How do I find a question I've ...

On the ask a question page click the green button that says "Ask a question" and on the next page there is a breadcrumb trail that links to the forum:

Firefox Help / Forum / Ask a New Question

You also could get into that same sets of screens if you scroll down on the support home page, on the left, under "Need More Personal Help?", by clicking "Ask your question here". Not sure many people read down that far.

---

I just noticed that "Ask a question" also appears near the top of the right sidebar on the support home page.

---

It probably makes sense to add a "My Contributions" link to the Dashboard to make this easier.

This link should get you to the home page:

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions

jscher2000 thanks for the help, you would think with all the support everyone is offering they would make it easier to get to the forum or make an option under user account to get back to questions you asked.

A lot of work to get to the forum page, but at least I know now and if I am not at my home computer with the page bookmarked I can find it, so thanks.

It seems strange to me that there is no link to this forum anywhere in Firefox Help. Even on https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Other%20Firefox%20support under the heading Web Forums there is only a link to the MozillaZine Firefox Support Forum.

On the Firefox Help page there is a box that contains this: "Search Firefox Help." That doesn't inform you that it will search this forum. Even at the top of this page the search box only says "Search Firefox Help." So even if you somehow get here, you still don't see a way to search the Forum. It should be changed to "Search Firefox Help and Forum." And there should be an obvious link to this Forum on the Help page.
