I just today received an automatic upgrade to FireFox 3.6 on my Mac Powerbook G3 running Mac Os 4.12 Tiger. Now my bookmarks have vanished and some of my Doc icons for programs (iPhoto, iMovie, and iMovie HD have a questions mark instead of their icon. What the heck is going on??! When I launch the new FireFox 3.6 I get the message that my History will not work because of some sort of file conflict that is being used by another program, most likely a security program. I've installed nothing new...How can I get my old FireFox back (3,5)? This is truely a messssss...

note: tried installing 3.5, but same problem - no bookmarks. In what file are the old bookmarks residing? I never did a bookmarks backup, but some file keeps track of them each time a launch FireFox... Can I just find the correct file and 'overwrite' the current defective one somehow>?? Thanks!

Chosen solution

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I looked in my Profiles folder and over 1/2 the required files are missing!! Boy is this a FireFox disaster!! How could Mozilla release such a disasterous upgrade... ?? Luckily I made a Carbon Copy Cloner backup of my entire hard drive about a month ago. Otherwise my entire drive was roached... I couldn't even boot into MacOs Tiger AT ALL!! Beware, beware of Firefox 3.6. DO NOT ACCEPT THIS UPGRADE!
