if i'm on a site and click a link to open a new tab, the tab will open but the page never loads. i just get a blank page, and instead of the page name on the new tab, it says "click (GIF Image, 1x1 pixal)" and the address bar will have this http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=6o8JG0hWlQI&offerid=143696.10000259&subid=0&type=4&afsrc=1&u1=01_2270023365_101019092649_184443883_Z. this happens to me on more than one site. i can't figure it out...please help. if you click on the link, you'll see what i see when the new tab open. i hope someone can tell me how to fix this.

Chosen solution

Some firewalls like Kaspersky can block content and send a 1x1 GIF image instead.

If Kaspersky is the culprit, why didn't turning it off while I was trying to access CNET and adding it to the "allow Pop-ups" for Mozilla/Foxfire work? I don't want to turn of the anti-banner, because I don't want random banners on every website I go to, no matter whether some legal beagles are beginning to come up with the crazy idea that those of us that use pop-up and anti-banner software are some how infringing on the copyright laws. There's a lot of unsavory pop-ups & banner ads out there! Okay off my soapbox, I need to update my email address with my CNET account, but the aggravating GIF thing has shown up, despite what I tried. I have Kaspersky 2011. There used to be a Whitelist in 2010 that sort of worked, and turning off Kaspersky had even worked before, but now that didn't work and I can't find the Whitelist thing. Anybody have another suggestion? Oh yeah, I don't have Windows Firewall on either. Thanks

If you have a problem with Kaspersky software then you need to ask advise in the Kaspersky forum.

I uninstalled Kaspersky and reinstalled Kaspersky. What the actual problem is or how I got into the situation I still do not know and would really like to know.

All right, and what do we do if we don't have Kasperksy, and have never heard of it before?

If your problem is not about Kaspersky then you have a different problem and you should create a new thread.

Then you can provide troubleshooting information like your operating system and installed plugins (about:plugins), and extensions (Tools > Add-ons) and we will be better able to help you.

What may I ask is Karpesky..?!

Mine is not a different problem, it is not about Karpersky (not that I know of anyway, as I havent the faintest idea what Karpersky is) , but all the same it is the same problem as described in the initial start of this thread.

Somebody please help and advise how I can resolve this. I need to allow pop-ups for a page where I need to make a payment..

I have the same symptoms occurring, i click some links a new window opens and it remains blank. Only difference is i don't have kerpesky. I tried turning off my firewall and it didnt help

I also have the same problem and don't know what kerspasky is. I have a MacBook running OSX 10.6.4 if that helps. In the past, I have shut down Firefox and tried coming back to the page later. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it doesn't.

This thread is about loading a page in Firefox and instead of getting a tab that shows: (GIF Image, 1x1 pixel)

If you do not have a tab with that title then you do not have the problem that is discussed here and in that case please start a new thread.

  • "Clear the Cache": Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

It appears like your advice may be for Kaspersky 2010? I have 2011, any updates to advice because I can't find filtering rules.
