We can access our HP Officejet to among other things use the scanner without installing additional software. Once connected to it the address for example, to use the scanner is: https://192.168.1.6/webScan.htm

However to start, I enter 192.168.1.6 and keep getting this error code: Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer

We then step through the next windows and click yes to understanding the risks and ultimately add a security exception for the IP address.

However whenever we return to the same address the exception seems to have expired and we have to delete it by going:

Tools|Options|Advanced|Encryption|View Certificates and go through the whole who wha again.

Is there anything we can do to avoid this?

PS Firefox is by far my preferred browser however it it ironic that I couldn't 'ask this question' or later 'edit this question' to ass this PS, using Firefox. I kept getting stuck is a vicious circle but returning continually to login stage but never the post or edit stage. I had to instead use Internet Explorer to get there!

I have this problem, specifically when trying to connect to a self=signed certificate using IPv6. IPv4 works without problems.

I received an email notifying me about the reply above.

In the meantime, I have upgraded to FF 6.x.x.

It's early days but I wonder if the problem described in my OP has been fixed in FF 6.x.x?
