I just updated to firefox 3.6.8 this morning after getting prompted to update as I started firefox. The firefox update successfully installed page said that I should update to the latest adobe flashplayer, so I did that as well, although that installation failed for whatever reason. I figured that I would update it later. I started watching live streaming videos on a website, and it was working for awhile, but firefox started to not respond. I tried opening up task manager, but even that started to lag and took minutes to open. The problem seemed resolved for awhile, but firefox started to not respond off and on, task manager stopped responding completely, explorer crashed, and my computer blue screened. It wouldn't even get off the blue screen after minutes of waiting, so I shut my laptop down manually. I'm positive that this couldn't have been a virus, since I only visited my usual websites, and I have both adblock plus and noscript installed. As for my laptop now, it won't boot to windows vista. I tried the hard drive test and failed. Now my laptop isn't even able to turn off no matter how long I hold down the power button. It's not an old laptop, so I doubt that it was just time for it to die.

I have always been a fan of firefox, but this is just horrible. I don't know if it was firefox's fault but it sure seems like it...

I'm currently on my older laptop, since my other one is obviously dead now. My broken one had vista installed and again, firefox 3.6.8 version.

Ever since I installed the 3.6.8 version of firefox my websites freeze or crash after being opened for a few minutes. Videos from You tube and other sites are freezing. I reinstalled the newest Flash Player version but that hasn't helped.

Can I go back to my previous version because this version sucks.

Im having same problem. Anyone have a solution?

I've also notice with this new version that pages are having lots of issues loading. I click a bookmark and it just cycles -- often times hitting the refresh or the stop button and then hitting enter again will make them display. Weird stuff. Very frustrating.

I updated to 3.6.8 yesterday (after not having updated for perhaps 5-6 mos), and now the browser is crashing regularly, even just after I've launched it for 15 seconds..

Same issue Mozilla 3.6.8 has been crashing every single day a few times a day.

Solution: Moving on to Chrome.

Same problem as the original poster except I have Windows Vista - have to do hard shutdown with the power button. There is something very wrong here.

Random client crashes, as well as the occasional BSOD.

Until this issue is fixed. I'll sadly be using Chrome.

I have the same problem. I have never had a problem with Firefox before, and use it as my main browser. However recently, after updating to 3.6.8, its been crashing all the time. Up to 20 times an hour. Usually it occurs when I click a link from a Google search, or in Yahoo. Even if I send in a crash report and restart Firefox, it crashes as soon as the same page is brought back up, or the same link is clicked. I have also had it crash when completely idle. Its very frustrating as it is my favorite browser. I've resorted to using Google Chrome for the time being.

After the 3.6.8 update, my browser turned into a non-responding, crashing slug. Disabling NoScript has temporarily solved that problem.

But I feel naked running without NoScript.

So who's going to take responsibility for fixing this problem; Mozilla or the NoScript developer?

Since updating to 3.6.8 my Firefox is just crashing, closing, going poof without warning. It seems to be random, I go to a page and it just disappears. Like I never even opened it.Sometimes its fine for awhile and then poof. Sometimes it poofs right on opening. Earlier it crashed 20 times just trying to watch a video on an EHow.com page. No rhyme or reason. Unfortuantely I have to use Firefox for work so someone HELP!

Just made a discovey. Tried using safe mode and same issue. I did discover that it has something to do with Flash. I have the most current version but any site that uses it like a video etc will crash. I uninstalled flash and the pages with the vids loaded without crashing firefix...but of course then the videos did not play. I reinstalled flash and we are crashing again. And by crashing I mean FF just poof closes....

Also been having issues on XP SP3.

Since updating to 3.6.8 I have had several issues with firefox, stalling, not loading pages properly and as mentioned BSODs. Firefox has become unusable.

I do plan to completely remove it and try FF4B2 tomorrow with no bookmarks or plugins/extentions and see what happens. Right now I am using Google Chrome and have had no issues, suggesting the issue is confined to FF.

Same problem. FF will be fine for a while, then when I click on a page or something, it snaps closed with a "Firefox has crashed, tell us about the issue so we can fix it," box on my desktop. Well I've filled out the box plenty of times to no avail. Same problem! I've tried Chrome, but it just doesn't feel the same... I got FF withdrawl. :P But either way, this is incredibly frustrating, and started once I updated to 3.6.8. Does anyone know when the new update is coming? Or if I could somehow go back in my updates to 3.6.7 or something?

When I have tried to update to FF3.6.8, the install goes ok until clicking on "accept" and it says "can't find liscence for this version - see firefox home page". Is there a fix for this or not? If so, where is it?

Wow, looks like FF just FAILED hard.... I got the same problem and looks like the best option is to use Chrome for a while..

I, too, have begun to use Google Chrome and for my purposes it is working well. It definitely is more simple than Firefox or Internet Explorer. If Firebox ever gets their act together about fixing all the problems with this version or at least hurry up with a better version I plan on going back to it. But Chrome isn't crashing or freezing or never loading my websites or giving me crazy errors so I'm HAPPY!

I'm back to IE until FF fix this 'not responding' problem.

I much prefer to use FF, just wish it much preferred me to use it.

I had same problem. I disabled the Shockwave Flash plugin and now FF is working fine for me.

Go to Tools->Add-ons then select Plugins scrolldown to Shockwave Flash select it and click disable. Restart FF.

Hope this works for you guys too.

I had the same problems. What I did was going bak to version 3.5.x and now everything is running nicely like before. So uninstall 3.6 and pick your version at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html. I'll wait for 'better' versions untill I read here that they work well!
