microsoft security essentials will not run after update to Firefox 3.6.7

I installed Firefox update 3.6.7 from 3.6.6. Firefox did not start after installation, but it did manually (running firefox.exe). Status bar at bottom of screen turned orange. Microsoft Security Essentials did not run and will not start manually.
