Same problem here, just since 3.6.6. Trying to download my PDF and quick files from my bank accounts. It's crashing every time. I've had to resort to a competing browser to get my data. Not a good thing at all!!

I have been a user of Firefox for several years now, but this past 'upgrade' of Firefox 3.6.6 has me looking for another browser. I am doing nothing new, just working on Firefox with about three tabs open, and when I move from Firefox to a download, Firefox crashes.

Since I teach online, I am constantly opening Word docs - which, I must say, I have been doing for years now - without this problem.

If Firefox is not able to fix this, I'm done.

I dont have to do a thing but open it and one minute later it crashes.

Crash reports go ignored.

Never had a problem with firefox.

Anyone suggest a browser in the interim?

Please give me the crash report ID. Press Command+ L to Go to the address bar then type about:crashes.

Copy and paste the entire page here and I will be able to figure out your problem

I am experiencing something odd - not exactly the same but similar odd behavior and in one case, crashing during functional use of another site. 1-whenever I open my iGoogle homepage, which has been the same and worked fine for every other version of Firefox over past 3 years, the Firefox window opens with the scrollbar partway down, enough so that it cuts off the top of the page every time and I have to manually pull it up - VERY annoying for homepage use. This only seems to be on iGoogle -- I have to imagine that was somewhere in the test scripts. I am on Mac OS 10.6.4 and FF 3.6.6. 2- I was trying new RoboForm for Mac and am now wondering if bug I reported to them was yours vs theirs, my browser kept crashing when I got a certain pulldown menu in Roboform. I am with the others on this board - FF needs to be stable or I too will have to make a change.

I use windows Vista. Firefox has always been stable until 3.6. (now 3.6.6) Now I can't use it because it seems to crash any time I open a page with animation/ video links in it. I'm now using Google Chrome. Seems fine on the same pages. Can't use Firefox on my banking site. How useful is that?

I disabled my quicktime plug-in.

Changed my javascript settings under Firefox > Preferences > Content > Enable JavaScript > and did not allow any scripts to change settings under "Advanced"

I have been going to several sites that have Flash (which crashed my Firefox before) and I still haven't crashed so far.

Hopefully this solves it.

Found the answer! Download Firefox 3.5.10 Install and run after rebooting. Go to Tools Menu, Options and Advanced tab. Uncheck 'Automatically check for updates to' Firefox. Problem solved! I can now do online banking! Phil

Same problem here starting with the 3.6.6. I disabled all my add-ins except for Ad-block Plus and it seems better.

for me, the moment i try to open my browser, i get a crash report screen where they prompt me to restart or quit firefox. the browser doesn't even open.

i double click the icon on my desktop and the crash report thing pops up almost immediately.

any ideas?

there hasn't been any such problem through my years of using firefox.

Same thing here.

Firefox has something new with the Flash Player, but they don't get along well together. This new feature that "prevents crashing", but freezes the plugins is pointless, since it also freezes the Firefox as well and you have to go to the Task Manager to kil the process.

Since 3.6.3 nothing works... thx Philpq for the solution :D

Hangs on opening and then crashes shortly afterwards (especially if video is playing). Plug-ins are up to date.

I had trouble loading pdfs with 3.6.6. Following advice here went in and disabled shockwave, still no luck. However, when I disabled Windows Presentation Foundation 3.5.307291, I am now OK. Can load pdfs just fine. I am using Adobe 7 on Vista.
