So you want to set a Homepage. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

This did not solve my problem. It shows as Firefox as my default browser in settings but when I close Firefox restart my laptop and open Firefox it still opens as Firefox home page. The home page icon still shows as Firefox also

So you likely still have your Homepage set as Firefox Home instead of a custom url.
