Hello, I want to get rid of the list of "recent bookmarks" - I don't want other users of my computer to see them. I've already set Firefox not to record history. Online search provided no useful information. My Firefox is always thelatest version. Hope you can help! - Raymond

One thing: if you don't want other users to see your recent bookmarks, then wouldn't they also be able to just look at all your bookmarks in Manage Bookmarks? That's why I don't entirely understand your request to specifically remove the "recent bookmarks" list.

Are you able to create user accounts on the computer for other users to use? That way when you are done using the computer you can log out, and someone else will only be able to login to their respective user account.

If you still want to specifically remove the "recent bookmarks" list, I would suggest looking into userChrome.css. It allows you to modify the appearance of Firefox. These answers might still work: https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/12y1p5t/comment/jhlatcx/ https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/18j337v/comment/kdhn2up/

Hi Mark,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query. I tried both links, but neither made any difference - the "recent bookmarks" list still appears.

You are, of course, right that another user can still look at all my bookmarks. But I have my reasons for wanting the "recent" list to go away.

Cheers,

- Raymond

Hi Raymond,

The userChrome.css code in the first link works for me. (Screenshot shows what I see) However, since you are using a different OS, it may require a different style. Could you try using the browser toolbox?

Then, follow these steps: Use the element selector in the top left corner to select the elements responsible for displaying the Recent Bookmarks. Add "display:none !important" to the first selector labeled element, and go to the Changes tab to copy the style into userChrome.css. Repeat for each element.

Of course if you are familiar with how CSS works then you don't need to follow the steps above.

Hi Mark, I very much appreciate your taking the time to send me further advice. However, I think I'll give up at this point: there's just too much I don't understand, and I don't have the time to learn Mozilla programming. My computer runs Windows 10 and the latest version of FF, but when I follow your direction to go to the element selector in the top left corner, I see no such thing. Above all, I see nothing that suggests it has to do with Recent Bookmarks. And I'm definitely not familiar with how CSS works, don't even know what "CSS" means. Many thanks anyway! - Raymond
