Issue with POP email downloading on only one email account - usa.net

OK, so I have 4 different emails on my Thunderbird account. I get the most email from my usa.net (Netaddress.com) account, but that has never been an issue -- as my inbox gets huge I just move the contents into a dated archive.

I have already looped back to the people at usa.net and all of my settings are correct.

Here is the issue: Out of nowhere, a few months ago, when I tried to download my USA.net email, it would stop after 100-200 emails. Also, it would NOT "register back" to USA.net and show the downloaded items as "gone" (I checked my settings; I am NOT leaving email on the USA.net server).

I even tried deleting a ton of emails on the USA.net server side via webmail, and it still just stops after 200 messages max. I then need to dump out what was downloaded to another folder or I get the error below (see upload).

I hadn't changed anything on my settings when this started. USA.net DID start a requirement several months ago RE using SSL, but I didn't have problems when I initially made the switch.

Help, please! When it stops downloading I either get no message, or I sometimes get the message shown.

How to fix please? Again, this is the ONLY email account that I have this problem with; if some kind of "limit" was being hit it wouldn't be letting me download from other accounts, including my "business" email (basically I use USA.net for all of my newsletters, online purchases, etc).

Thanks so much.

OK, I finally figured things out. I tried a bunch of different email clients for usa.net and when I reached out to them, they also saw a bunch of unauthorized login attempts; probably just pfishing but that wasn't my problem.

What DID work:

--Uninstall Norton using the Norton uninstall tool. --Back up your Thunderbird files using tool of choice. --Do a COMPLETE reinstall of Thunderbird -- also rename ALL local folders in appdata for both local and roaming to FOOThunderbird or similar. THIS WAS THE KEY. Whatever got "broken" it kept getting re-loaded when I did a reinstall. Using CClean to uninstall uninstalled Tbird but NOT the local data. --Restart everything. --Reinstall a totally clean copy of Thunderbird. --I ran Tbird the first time with NO Norton installed. --Was able to download and send from usa.net in Tbird. --Reinstalled Norton. --Set that up and rebooted per instructions. --NOW Thunderbird can send/receive no problem.

EDIT I also see that my new, 100% Totally Clean Install has an option to loop in antivirus programs to scan incoming mail in real time. I kept that OFF. This was NOT an option in my earlier cumulative updated install, or wasn't showing. Thanks again!

Thanks so much again! Now I have to figure out how to import ALL of my old emails as archives so I can get to them easily; that's another ticket for another day.  :)

OK, reset up the account from zero, and got the error shown below. It downloaded a few messages and then kicked in. I also went to delete my cache, and not seeing anything--uploading what I see in Profiles folder. Thanks again. What a mess.

It may help if you post a screenshot of your incoming server settings pane. I have a usa.net account in IMAP with no problems, and my wife has one in POP, also with no problems.

I'm glad all is well. You can reclaim the archives by - install the addon, importexporttools NG - highlight Local Folders - Rightclick and select importexport option to import mbox file - select the archive folder in the old profile. such as archive and archive.msf (ignore the msf entry)
