McAfee Blocked Site and Suspicious Activity by an app

McAfee has notified me that a piece of software which is apparently from HP (HPUpdate within HP Framework) is trying to access a suspicious IP address (13.224.2.51).

An online search doesn't show this as being associated with HP but it is in an Amazon centre so it could be associated with almost anyone.

Is there anything in the Mozilla world which would help me determine whether this is a genuine problem or McAfee is just confused?

At this point my option seems to be to reinstall the my HP printer software and see what impact this has.

I would guess your computer is from HP. I have a few HP laptops and that software is legit. That ip is from Amazon...

I see no issue. Just add it to the exclusion list or something like that. No browser issues.... carry on. Nothing to see here.

Thanks. I should have said that I don't have an HP computer (actually an older Dell). I haven't had an HP laptop for many years. I do have a current HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 which is considered an enterprise device although I have it just as a home printer. The printer does want to talk to HP regularly to update them about ink cartridge levels and pages printed. So I guess that could just be an Amazon server HP is using

The other thing which is a little suspicious is that the software shows as mostly being installed or updated in the last couple of weeks. MacAfee did also find a trojan (JS/Downloader.db) lurking in the local data of Chrome (which I only use for few sites for casting to my ChromeCast device.) That was a little while before the issue I am inquiring about.

Beyond firefox software controls what MacAfee does would be something you should direct to MacAfee support to address since this is coming from their software not firefox browser. And since you have Windows 10 ...windows Defender does a better job and is "FREE" since you already own Windows 10 and you didn't have to pay to get a better software that I've used done just fine.

Does McAfee have forums? They might be more familiar with how to extract more details about their detections.
