Bookmark details are missing

Bookmark details for my bookmarks are suddenly missing. I still see the list of bookmark folders, and within each folder I still see the list of bookmark names. But the navigation details (i.e., URLs) for each bookmark are nowhere to be seen. Nothing happens when I click on a bookmark.

What could have happened? Is there a way to recover that information? (Unfortunately I don't have an up-to-date bookmark backup.)

Wow, I don't know how that could happen.

If you create an export file of your bookmarks, do any of the links in that file work? (The file is in web page format.) Here are the steps for that:

Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

Firefox usually makes backups of your bookmarks on days that you add or change a bookmark, but before restoring one of those, I suggest exiting out of Firefox and after a 30-second pause, start it up again. The goal is to hopefully release any file locks that might be causing the problem.

Then assuming the problem continues, check out the steps in this article for Restore:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
