Spell Check Tilde
The red Tilde on my spell check in Facebook does not go away when the new correct word is chosen using Firefox., also the correct word is not displayed in the sentence until your push enter, it will then be corrected however before you push enter to post it, it will show it as the misspelled word. This issue is not prevalent on other browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave.

Depends on if spellcheck is from firefox or from FaceBook. If you save the wrong spelling in firefox it will probably still be listed there as well.
I have tested it by purposely misspelling multiple words in one chat box and it does the same thing. The words were not previously added to the dictionary.
No one spellchecker are the same or follow the same process. So comparing to others won't tell us where the problem is happening at. Did you also test in those other browser to verify it's not limited to FB or the actual Browser?
You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages sub menu. At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.
- open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
The spelling checker is enabled if [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a checkmark.
You can enable or disable spell checking globally:
- Settings -> General: Language and Appearance: "Check your spelling as you type"
You can look here for dictionaries:
Note that for spell check you need a dictionary. A language pack provides string translations for the user interface.
You can check on the about:config page whether layout.spellcheckDefault is set to 1 (multi-line) or 2 (single-line).
