top portion of screen disappearing

I am having a periodic issue where, when I have Firefox in full screen, the top portion of the screen is blank bar, where the open tabs and search bar should be. When I toggle to another application, Word, perhaps, it doesn't look that way. When I close and reopen Firefox, I still see the blank bar. The only resolution appear to be restarting my computer.
