"The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message while startup

more options

While startup of Firefox I'm getting the "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message.

All because Firefox seem to be too stupid to follow a correct symbolic link to place (on another drive) where the file exist and has propper permissions (is accessable).

Thereof, please notify the developers about the described above bug, that it can become quickly fixed. Thanks

Is this a recent problem? I found a thread from 2017 indicating:

I copied the places.sqlite file from my production profile to a master directory. I created a new test profile and ran Firefox to populate it. I then exited Firefox, deleted the default places.sqlite file it had created, dropped a symlink to my master copy into the test profile, and re-ran Firefox. Poof! There were all of my bookmarks.
