When I opened firefox in the past it was a big window. Now it's a tiny window in the upper left corner. I can adjust the window to the size I want but it's a pain to do that every time I start the program. How can I fix it?

Chosen solution

New shortcut didn't help. Run in trouble shoot mode didn't help. But along the way I noticed 'Refresh Firefox'. So I tried that, and that fixed it. The mysteries of computers. So, thanks for your help. Problem appears to be solved.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved You may have corrupt xulstore.json file.

Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/Profiles
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data \Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Close Firefox. Search for the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

I found the xulstore file. There was another folder between Profiles and file in question. I removed the file, closed everything and restarted Firefox and the same thing happened. I went back in the profiles folder and a new xulstore file had been created. Doesn't seem like that is the problem. Any other ideas? By the way I'm running Windows 10.

Do you have more than one profile?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
