Find bar won't close, has misleading appearance
The Find bar used to have an X at the far left that I could click to close it. It no longer does. I looked up if there's a hotkey to close it, and it's supposed to be Esc, which is doing nothing.
The bar also appears to have the search box and option tickboxes all grayed out indicating unusable; they're not actually unusable, it's just the appearance that's wrong, but it shouldn't look like that.
Chosen solution
This sidebar/find bar problem will be fixed in Firefox 93, and the patch was approved to release in 92.0.1 (if there is one) (bug 1728368).
Note: verified fixed on Firefox Developer Edition, version 93.0b5 (today's beta update).

<Control> F is the hotkey. Does this open/close the toolbar?
Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Ctrl-F has always worked to open the Find bar and still does now, and has never worked to close it and still does not now. And both the not being able to close the Find bar and the Find bar having all the options grayed out as though they're unusable (even though the Find bar otherwise works) are still happening in Troubleshoot Mode.
You can try to resize the window (make it wider) to see if that makes Firefox show the close button. Note that you can press the ESC key to close the find bar.
Esc isn't working, I already said that, and Firefox is maximized, so I'm not sure how much wider a window I'm supposed to get? I guess if I--
oh you're kidding. new question: why is the close button for the Find bar *behind* the sidebar? here, visuals.
