When I open a new tab it automatically switches to it, and yes I turned that option OFF in settings.

While using Firefox if I click to open anew tab it automatically goes to it, even thought I have that option turned OFF in my settings.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hold down the <Shift> key. Then press the middle mouse button.
