Do you mean the Bookmarks Sidebar? Use the Firefox Sidebar to access bookmarks, history and synced tabs
I have the same problem, trying to reestablish the bookmark pane on the left side of my screen. I do not have the icons (sidebar button) as shown in the solution. And I can't seem to get to a tool that will allow me to control the bookmark appearance.
As Roseann Rosannadanna says: "nevermind"... did some more reading and found the solution.
