FF79 x64 Win7 NoScript, Ublock Origin A financial website I use has suddenly stopped working for me. It will reject my logins as if I had entered them incorrectly. Sometimes it works after the 3rd try, but no longer. After multiple failures an authentication dialog will appear, but that also fails when proper codes are entered. I always use a private window for this site, and Noscript, Ublock Origin are not enabled for private windows. Explicitly disabling these addons does not fix the issue. I have no problem when I try the ancient IE I still have.

The institution has told me that FF users have been having issues. I tried clearing cache, cookies and history, and this allowed me to logon exactly one time. I am hoping the fix is a simple setting change. The suggestion to use FF safe mode is not a real solution. Are private windows not appropriate for these types of websites?

Hi tn,

Long story short; Some sites, including financial institutions, will not allow access when in private/incognito mode. Use of a VPN can also cause issues due to the IP being reported. Some sites will alert you to the fact that you can't gain access in private mode and some will not. There are some things that can be done via command line in Windows, but this is not the forum for that type of instruction.

Sorry the story was still too long. Try not using private mode on the site.

I am able to access the site in a normal window, but cookies, history, noscript and other references to the site remain afterwards. Even clearing the last hour of history will still leave the permission url in noscript. The private window was better in leaving no trace. If someone steals your pc, wouldn't you prefer they know nothing about your financial institutions? I'm thinking a private window which allows global per session data storage?
