I'm scared af. Hundreds of password are saved on my firefox. My active logins were revoked and I had to reset the password to login to my firefox on windows. Turns out all my passwords are gone.

I have no email from firefox notifying of the suspicious login.

What I can do?

What do you mean by your "active logins were revoked"? Do you not still have your passwords and logins saved in the about:logins page on Firefox?

If you reset the password on your Firefox Account, there's no hope in recovering anything from there. Your data saved on Firefox Sync is encrypted using your password, so when you change your password there's no way to decrypt any existing data from the Firefox Sync service, since it's now a different password.

That said, it still shouldn't impact any data that you already have saved in the Firefox browser.

You appear to be using a Firefox 77 Beta or DE version.

Did you make sure that you haven't switched to another profile?

If you lost personal data then it is possible that a new default-release profile folder has been created. See "Determine if Firefox has created a new profile":

Hi mastsethi, as an emergency measure to avoid any further data loss, please back up two files from your current profile to a folder that Firefox won't touch, for example, your Documents or Desktop. Here's how:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in File Explorer.

  • Find logins.json and right-click > Copy it.
  • In the destination folder, right-click a blank area and Paste it.
  • Return to your profile folder and:
  • Find key4.db and right-click > Copy it.
  • In the destination folder, right-click a blank area and Paste it.

There is a third party utility that understands how to decrypt logins in logins.json given the correct key4.db file. Assuming you didn't previously set a Master Password that added a second layer of encryption. You could try that program to see whether your missing logins are still in the file.

It will look in your regular profile by default, but you can point it to the backup copy to avoid any conflict with Firefox's use of those files.
