Posted

hello, i know how to set homepage with policies.json, add bookmarks, or set user pref with autoconfig but i can't find a way to pin a tab automatically at first launch, after installing firefox. is it even possible ? it seems that Firefox store a pinned tab in the sessionstore-backups folder on user profile. thank you

The current state isn't stored in the backups folder, it's stored in the database outside the folder (sessionstore.jsonlz4).

  1. Make a new profile (name it to find it better later), launch it (about:profiles).
  2. You may want to open about:support and click 'Open Directory' next to Profile directory. Leave that file browser window open for later.
  3. Open about:preferences and enable 'Restore previous session' (don't worry, it won't be left on in the new profile)
  4. Pin the tab you want and close everything else. now use the x to close the window.
  5. Wait a few seconds for the profile to fully close, then open up the profile folder of the profile you just closed
  6. Now from the folder, find sessionstore.jsonlz4. Copy it to any new profile. Even uninitialized profiles will use it.
