Download fails as it states I have a missing file??

Posted

Tried to transfer my user setting from my old desktop to a new laptop. Followed about 6 utube procedures that didn't work. Uninstalled Firefox to start over. Now I get an error saying Firefox can't be downloaded because its missing a file. Worse off than when I started many hour ago. Firefox won't load on my new laptop at all.

Chosen solution

Open your file browser to the program folders; • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\" • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\" and remove the firefox folders.

After, download and run the full installer.

Hi cfrederick2,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with syncing and issues related to downloading Firefox web browser.

By chance, does your new laptop have any security software installed ?

If so, you could try disabling any security software and try again.

Have you tried a different web browsers to download Firefox (Chrome/ Edge) ?

Here is the official Firefox download website : Firefox browser {link}

Here is another thread for installation issues : Firefox will not install on my Windows 10 computer. What should I do? {link}

Knowledge based article: Firefox Sync troubleshooting and tips {link}

Let me know if this helps.

Wiped out all traces of Firefox on the new laptop and reloaded it. Tried transferring old files from the old PC to the new laptop multiple times until the new Firefox profiles, bookmarks and setup matched the Firefox on the old PC.
