Adobe Flash settings

I am having a problem where suddenly Firefox won't remember that I told it to run flash on a website. There was previously the option to remember that decision and now that's gone today for no reason. Removing that option is why I quit using Chrome when the great corporate beast decided for me that I shouldn't be able to conveniently use flash any more because they didn't like it. Is this the same thing happening here or is this a bug?

Hi lordenki40, A change in version 69.0, as part of phasing out Flash, is in the Release Notes:

"As previously announced in the Plugin Roadmap for Firefox, the "Always Activate" option for Flash plugin content has been removed. Firefox will now always ask for user permission before activating Flash content on a website."

Thank you for your answer. I appreciate your help. I guess I'll be switching browsers again as downgrading functionality to force me not to use software is absolute trashfire level BS from a company I used to respect.

If this is the case then what's replacing Adobe or will there be some other program to use to run this sort of online content.

Is there any work around to save my flash settings as tired of having to click to activate the things I do do online that run through it.

Hello scottish2,

In this article it says :

"What do I use to replace Flash’s functionality?

Flash can usually be replaced with the three technologies that are commonly used on every modern website – HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript."

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to create a boolean preference on the "about:config" page to force-enable Flash till the end of 2020, but I'm not keeping my hopes up .....

To everybody :

There are some embedded system that are using a Flash frontend to be managed, and if you still have to maintain them you need a working Flash installation. Adobe could kill Flash, but unfortunately some system will still use it, and having to upgrade them is not feasible in the short and medium term.

Has there been any update on a work around to give us the option to remember this setting like there use to be of a way to enable it permanently. As it's getting really annoying to have to click on everything flash to enable it especially when some things you might not even know are flash that need enabling!

@ scottish2,

I couldn't agree with you more ....

I have pleaded to get that preference on the "about:config" page, but I might as well have been talking to a brick wall.

You can now enable Flash per session, but it means keeping that session open though.

Please see this bug report :

@ scottish2, I couldn't agree with you more .... I have pleaded to get that preference on the "about:config" page, but I might as well have been talking to a brick wall. You can now enable Flash per session, but it means keeping that session open though. Please see this bug report : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1581664

Did you read that first comment on the page you sent WOW that could be extremely dangerous if flash was being turned off like that and people were not remembering to refresh it being it related to a hospital.

The devs really need to rethink this decision to turn it off by default and not give us the option to remember. It can be life threatening in some cases depending on the user.

This is a huge problem since at this point the flash programs I use stall/time out before I can even right click/load up settings to get to "Local storage settings by site". The reason I gave up my precious legacy extensions (and god, do I miss them, this UI is ugly as sin and half as useful as it used to be) was so that I didn't have to switch to chrome just to load flash.

Now flash is broken.

Do you guys just... research what we most want NOT to happen, and then summon Satan over so he can laugh while you implement it anyway? This is the only reason I can think of for why you guys keep doing this.
