Chosen solution

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the browsing history or are you using permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History)?

When there is no browsing history then Firefox might be showing some default web pages as suggestion in the location/address bar drop-down list.

See if this helps; Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. At the bottom of the page, find Location Bar.

Edit At the bottom of the page, find Location or Address Bar.

I opened the browser about:preferences#privacy

but was unable to find LOCATION BAR at the bottom of the page.

I did find LOCATION under Permissions but need more info to find what I am exactly looking for.

Thank you.

I was able to find under Library, Other Bookmarks, the www.facebook.com and a few other ones....deleted them all and now the browser is clear for me to type in where I want to go.

Thank you for the information that led me to discover this frustrating problem.

I very much appreciate all your help.
