Hi Alquestion, as you probably have read, every version of Firefox needs a new certificate before they can verify extension signatures, which is necessary to re-enable most installed ones and install most new ones.

To address all versions, here's my understanding of the status of fixes:

• Firefox 66 - fixed in 66.0.5
  • If you already installed this update and it's not working for you, please let us know

• Firefox 61-65 - you can use the hotfix from this past weekend that is distributed via a study
  • If you already installed this update and it's not working for you, please let us know
  • I read the hotfix may be posted on an official channel for direct installation so that you do not need to use the study feature, but I don't know when that would happen

• Firefox 60 Extended Support Release - fixed in 60.6.3esr
  • If you already installed this update and it's not working for you, please let us know

• Firefox 52-60 - a hotfix in the form of a legacy extension has been written and is in pre-release testing

• Firefox 51 and earlier - nothing is being tested on these versions, but you might be able to use the legacy extension once it is available

The Legacy extension uses "async function inject_intermediate()" and thus will only work in Firefox 52 and later that support 'async'. In versions before Firefox 52 you will have to install the certificate via other ways (directly importing in the Certificate Manager or run code in the Browser Console).

For jscher2000 - I have Firefox version 52.9.0, so I am waiting for the version 52-60 Hotfix legacy extension in pre-release testing that you indicated. I am not a technical person on this at all, so I have to wait for the fixes. Do you need to know the specific items disabled?

Jeremy - Hi. Thanks a lot for your message. I enabled the fix-link and 1. AdBlock came on immediately, and 2. I enabled the Avast Internet Security.

The following are still disabled: 1. Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant and 2. RealDownloader. These two were still noted as ..."not verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled." Are these not usable / have another fix / or ?

Hi Alquestion, extensions older than Firefox 40-something were never signed, so they do not work in Firefox 40-something or later (I don't remember the exact version).

As far as I know, the old "Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant" extension is obsolete and has no replacement.

"RealDownloader" was discontinued by its author and replaced with something else many years ago: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1077393. Of course, there are many video downloaders to choose from...
