This is not the first time either!

My bookmarks are gone, my previous session is gone and I cant remember the pages I had open, my search engine that I want to add, and have always had, doesnt come up on their pages except as a theme, which I dont want... I am really really pissed that this keeps happening

I need all my stuff for my work and I have no idea what I had and its all gone...Likely 200 bookmarks for one thing and about 20 tabs

WTF! I need some help here to restore EVERYTHING I had. It was bad enough with this other add on nonsense and now this?

Dont have an "old Firefox on my desktop...all my passwords were gone and I have spent the best part of the day trying to at least remember my tabs, but I have forgotten several of them and needed them...Obviously even tho I bookmarked them it doesnt help cos I lost all those as well. I did save a bookmark file last month but have no idea how to put those back up from the file

I am sick of having to do this over and over..there must be some way to get it all back... I cant even reset Firefox to an earlier date any more, that seems to be gone too.

Hi furfamilygirl, sorry to hear about that, the update shouldn't remove anything.

If you haven't already, could do a regular shutdown and restart of Windows to clear file locks and complete any deferred updates.

It's possible Firefox wasn't able to resume in your regular profile after installing the update due to a file lock and created a plain vanilla new one. Check the Profile Manager to see whether you can switch back: type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter to load it. Can you find another profile here? If so, you can take a peek by using the "Launch profile in new browser" button. If that is your regular profile, you can use the "Set as default profile" button so it comes up regularly going forward.

Any progress so far?

I don't remember that option. Do you mean restoring a bookmark backup or was it something else? To avoid data loss, please do not use the Windows "system restore" feature without first making a backup of all your Firefox data folders.

Thanks for the links but I am still not sure if I can find my old profile. When I put in about:profiles 3 came up

Profile: default This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. Default Profile yes

Root Directory C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\eptoydpy.default

Local Directory C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\eptoydpy.default

Am I supposed to do something with those to get my old profile back? I am not sure which one would be the correct one or how to do it. Can you help please? Thanks

How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the folder in your file explorer.

Root Directory...
Local Directory...

Actually, that is one profile with two folder locations (Root has the important stuff, Local has temp files like cache).

If you use the Open Folder link for Root and then click up one level, you should get to a folder named Profiles. One item there will be eptoydpy.default. Are there any oher items there?

Hi furfamilygirl, usually the folder just has a few folders in it, not lots of files, could you click "up" another level, or try this method as a shortcut to access the folder:

In the Windows 10 search box, type or paste the following, and Windows should recognize it as a File Folder and you can click or press Enter to launch it in File Explorer:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

How many folders here?

There are 8 folders

Note that only folders with a random name are profile folders (Crash Reports and Pending Pings aren't profiles). What is the last time these folder were accessed

Can you attach a screenshot that shows the details (list view)?
