Does your old Mac also uses wi-fi for internet access?
WPA2 is normally used on a mobile device to connect to wi-fi hotspot. You may have to install a certificate as well in case a secure connection is used. You would have to check the instructions from the provider of this connection to see how to proceed and set up the connection.
