This apparent " Firefox Survey " is Highly Suspicious .. Asking only 3 Inane Questions, like How Much I use Firefox .. Do I use any Others .. How Satisfied am I ? .. Then awards me a Free iPhone X, beside a display of supposed Countless Emails expressing joy & gratitude for this wonderful Gift, which came So Quickly by mail .. Then asks me for my Id / Address, e-mail, & Credit Card info .. Requesting I Authorize a $ 1.oo Payment, to cover Shipping. It's a 99.9 % PROBABILITY, THIS is a SCAM: NO MOZILLA ID in survey .. INANE questions, useless for Marketing .. a Free iPhone is Won every 60 seconds by Everyone ? .. Since when can we Ship Securely an iPhone, for only $ 1.oo ? . I'VE BEEN BURNED BEFORE .. Once you Authorize a Credit Card payment, the "VENDOR" CAN DEBIT YOUR ACCOUNT ANY AMOUNT THEY WISH .. & your funds can go straight to some Secret Account in Central China or Timbuktu. YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK .. or YOU MAY STRUGGLE FOR MONTHS, TO RECOVER YOUR STOLEN IDENTITY. Please: Do not Authorize any payment to a "Vendor" you do not know for sure is legit. NO MOZILLA ID ? .. Forget it ! .. Report Suspicious Activity .. Be alert for Red Flags: If it seems Too Good to be True, then it probably is .. a CON JOB !

Con Artists prey on our Material Dreams & Desires .. especially our Impatience to Get Ahead .. Seducing people to take a Unreasonable Leaps of Faith. If an offer SEEMS UNREASONABLE, & you Can't VERIFY the VENDOR 100 % .. please .. MAKE LIKE A TREE & LEAVE .. So you can sleep well tonight ! .. " In returning & rest you shall be Saved .. In quietness & confidence shall be your Strength .. & You would Not " .. Isaiah 30:15 .. Please Pause : Take a deep breath. Meditate a moment .. pray for Wisdom .. be prepared to wait .. or Run !

The company Mozilla that makes the Firefox web browser has never had such random prizes, especially expensive ones in variations of this scam. The fake prizes have been for Samsung S8 or S9, a $1000 gift card from say Amazon or a iPhone X.

Also if Mozilla did have prizes for something then it would likely involve a *.mozilla.org page and not some random weird name site that came up from a malvertising Ad.

This scam is to get personal information from whose who fall for it like name, address, phone#, email and the fake very cheap $1 or $2 dollar shipping is to get the credit card information.

Did you give this survey your credit card number or any information? If you did, please cancel your card and inform your bank.

Thanks James & Tyler Downer, for your quick, informative, caring replies ! After a moment's consideration, I DID LEAVE THAT PAGE. I have been burned before .. yet MY MAIN CONCERN was : HOW CAN I SEND A WARNING to other FIREFOX CLIENTS ? .. This is a great Forum, but is there any other more Far Reaching way ?

There's no way to reach other Firefox users, we at Mozilla are well aware of this, unfortunately there are malicious people in the world who will keep trying to do bad things.

Sadly yes, Tyler .. 10 YouTube episodes of Racket Squad might awaken some over trusting people. Did for me, plus getting burned. Thanks for being there ! .. Kenny

Well if the people who get a variation of this scam page from a malvertising Ad were to stop and think about it then maybe the scammers would get very few victims.

The $1 shipping is a big flag (for an expensive phone?) and the fact the the phone is say $1000 is a huge flag that this should be suspicious and perhaps too good to be true.

I have seen Mozilla do say gifts for some certain things in past but they were say for a t-shirt or such. Say to the third-party Add-ons developers that meet certain criteria.

Let's start with the fact that this scam is still active as of 5/30/19.

I suppose "thanks" are in order for all the dedicated volunteers who responded to the original post, but let's recognize that all the responses above are great at telling us what we already know -- the "survey" is a scam -- guess what, we all already knew that or we wouldn't be here talking about it.

The issue where we need some SUPPORT is to resolve how this is happening and how to prevent it from happening to people who might not recognize it as a scam.

I can't say for sure about the seven other Firefox users who reported this same fake survey before me, but I can say that it was NOT hosted on some site that I was visiting and I can say that I was not diverted to the fake survey site by any malware on my computer (my computer is well protected and has been rechecked immediately afterward).

At least in my case, I clicked on a legitimate link in a legitimate email from a legitimate major company. Instead of ending up at their website, I was hijacked to the fake survey. I'm sorry, I didn't think to save its URL before closing that tab and apparently Firefox didn't keep it where Undo Close Tab would reopen it.

In my case, that legitimate link was to http://info.milwaukeetool.com/dc/yhpCuHxm0kkjDnMdneCy4oarbi8ygWYMbm0Jmdc7eRc2g1JQz5TIsP_5XYUMZV6_AoEEz74eVk9QnkOMAib8QK58roP0OR2l83LFpgn4w7gd8ie2hsDvV1MI3EEJw84rIky4sX65ChzXhq3k5-Lbl_uo74vlxuX5GOxcJxnzp-0hgYFB7PdfCez3gBMssBjSkHU9UsHz90ctmk-XO2N-e0-kCdBasAsh06_5-0-l2SEuiSQVQ46DqWSme1qvzCWUdhi_u6er6fhK99_rC6cK4KvI4rLa36ZQxuEpvqr_tfl8yirIGXWhdZSb_vLhw6PPszbzq5FkNCTOQygNR-tAA8U6UOh7KEcG9qz_hvQ9nkM=/c0S02C6L0GBN0rDD90IGD00

But, of course, the fake survey was a completely different site at a completely different URL.

So, the questions for Firefox support are (1) why did Firefox open a completely different site instead of the site whose URL was included in the hyperlink -- and (2) how do we ensure that this doesn't happen again.

Opening this URL gives The redirect url is empty, so either the site is hacked or something else is wrong.

All of the times I have seen these types of scams, it has been a legitimate site that was hijacked by malicious advertisements. Both Firefox and Chrome have the capability to sandbox advertisements, although many (probably most) sites do not use the feature, which has lead to some high profile sites, such as The Washington Post, being attacked.

I believe that impersonating Mozilla is somewhat new, but the scam has been around for a long time.
