I access an Invision Forum v4.3.5 and I am able to Resize an attached graphic in a Personal Message or in a Thread Post. That is until Today.

I can't resize the graphic in FF v64.02 So I went to my notebook where I still use FF v55.03. I had no problem editing the size of a GIF . I click once on the graphic where I get the ability to stretch the graphic size either larger or smaller.

So I tried to downgrade FF. I went from v64.0.2 to 64.0 with no difference. I then downgraded again to v60.0.2 but that was unstable and crashed FF on every launch

So I am back on FF v64.0.2 on my desktop. If I click on the graphic to the right, I can not "stretch" or "compress" its size. If I double-click on it I get a dialogue. I can decrease ( compress ) its size but I can not increase ( stretch ) its size past its default pixel size.

Therefore I did a test on a Virgin PC ( Win8.1/64 but tested using only Firefox Win32 installers )

I installed Firefox v56 and tested the resize capability and I incrementally upgraded and tested Firefox 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 and v63 and all were able to be Resize a given graphic.

It was when I installed Firefox v64 that the ability to Resize a graphic failed.

I guess I never noticed it on my Desktop until Today when I updated it to v64.02 and tried it.

Chosen solution

Yes. Toggling; editor.resizing.enabled_by_default From; False to True - Fixes the issue.

I could not attach the graphic in the initial post. The graphic shows the Forum Editor with a GIF showing. I have selected the graphic and you can see the small boxes on the corners and edges that allow me to Stretch or Compress the size of the Graphic. It is this capability that is lost in Firefox v64

Hi DHLipman, certain changes to Firefox editing features were "requested by the W3C Editing Task Force." (See: Fx64 Compat Note). The W3C sets web standards, and Mozilla usually tries to conform (even more than some other browser makers).

As indicated in the compatibility note, sites can re-enable these features, but if we assume the sites aren't going to do that any time soon, then you could try reversing the change using a preference. I haven't tested it myself. Do you want to try it and see whether it works for you?

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste by_def and pause while the list is filtered

The three preferences that start with editor. used to be true and starting in Firefox 64, they are false.

(3) Double-click the editor.resizing.enabled_by_default preference to switch the value from false to true

Most likely you would need to reload any open page before that takes effect. Possibly you'll need to restart Firefox.

Does that restore the behavior from Firefox 63? I don't know how long these preferences will be available.
