Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st:

Hi, thankyou for your reply, but what do you mean by do a refresh?

Hi Kieya, this article describes the Firefox Refresh: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. That might be too drastic as the first step, but it saves a lot of time working through modified setting and add-on issues.

What happens when you try to load the games now? For example:

  • specific error message (what is it?)
  • blank rectangle in the page
  • loading circle just keeps circling
  • something else

Do you get as far as the Flash notification icon on the left end of the address bar showing up?

Hi, thankyou for your help. I get no error message, Magic Jigsaw Puzzles start to load, but it never finishes and the screen stays the same. I would say the loading circle just keeps circling (lol). No flash notification icon or anything...

Many FB games load from a different site into a frame, and Firefox may have stricter security in that case. Could you try right-clicking somewhere in the game area on a blank part of the background and look for a This Frame entry on the menu. Assuming you find that, expand that submenu and try Open Frame in New Tab to see whether it works any better there or shows any new errors/behavior.

A Refresh that goes correctly should still have your bookmarks. Are they gone?

Refresh moves your old Firefox profile folder with data and settings to your desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. Can you find that? If you drill down into the folder, into the profile folder (partially random name like a1b2c3d4.default) there should be a folder named bookmarkbackups containing dated files. You can use Firefox's Restore feature to apply one of these backups to your current Firefox profile if needed. At the bottom of the Restore menu, click "Choose File" and point Firefox toward one of those backups.

See: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

What other settings were you thinking of?

Also, after a Refresh you may want:

Bookmarks Toolbar

To turn different bars on and off, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list.

Bookmarks Menu button for the toolbar

To add the optional bookmarks menu button (), either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

OMG, yes they are there. I just had to put the toolbar back up. This fixed the jigsaw puzzle problem, but not the cookie jam problem. I think that has something to do with Shockwave Flash, which cannot load on Windows 7. Again, thankyou so much for your help, I really appreciate it! Have a great day. Debb

Could you check whether your Firefox sees multiple Flash plugins? Sometimes there is a problem when an older one is still on your system. You can type or page about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter to load that page. In the plugin detail, you should find only one "Shockwave Flash" section on the page. Does that check out? For example, the current one is:

Shockwave Flash

File: NPSWF64_31_0_0_108.dll Path: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF64_31_0_0_108.dll Version: 31.0.0.108 State: Enabled Shockwave Flash 31.0 r0

Do you have any others, or different information?
