Why does Firefox ask me to log in two more times when I'm already logged in??

My log-in defaults to my Gmail home page, if that helps.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu , click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

I created a Firefox account this morning because I was instructed to do so as part of this inquiry. I've never used it, nor do I Sync (whatever that means).

So your answer is simply, "I don't know"?

Ok, well do not need a account to run Firefox and the account for here can be separate from there as I do not have one for the browser that I know of and have never been asked to make one. Guess lucky.

Also can make a new account here anytime, just not same username. If use same user name there is a running history of your questions that can be reviewed to see what was going on before if needed

Delete the account if do not use sync, or use Firefox screenshots and store online, they can be saved locally. though there are things that are of interest. that do need to sign in for and do need a google account for : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/

As for 2x's no idea and yes the answer for me is I do not know. That does not mean others can help but Support does not work with accounts as we are all Volunteers.

Well if it is not asking you for your password and log into Google 2 X's then it has succeeded in the results you wanted.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

See, I was already logged in, and then I got the message to log in again. This happens twice every morning, and each time a new tab opens, even though I don't respond. (When I open Firefox, it automatically defaults to my Gmail account.) I hope this helps.

Yes, but if it is the cause of the problem, you may not want to. If leave google mail open the tab top tells you that there is email to look at so actually is a waste of time using it as well as ram and speed decrease and privacy you give up.

I think at least my question has been answered. The multiple log-in requests appear to have something to do with my Gmail extension. After temporarily disabling the extension in Safe Mode yesterday, the problem did not recur today. That's a hopeful sign, and I will hope it's an actual solution. Thanks for your time and patience.
