My word program can no longer find links embedded in copy as of the last Firefox update
I use a lot of links in my Word documents and never had a problem opening any until the last update of Firefox. Now when I put a link into any Word document, and click on it to check the link is correct, I get: "Unable to open https:// xxxxx.com. Cannont locate Internet or proxy server." This is killing me. How do I fix it. I have been using links as promotion for 3 decades. Now none work.

Is this on firefox quantum version 61?
Yes I am using Firefox quantum version 61.0 and It will Word no longer recognize the proxy. All links I click on come up saying "Cannont locate the internet server or proxy server"
Why don't you downgrade back to version 60.02 for now then go into settings and don't let it update automatically back again to 61
It started doing this in 60.2. I thought upgrading would solve it. It didn't. Do I have to quit using Firefox and find some other server? I've been using Firefox and Thunderbird for ages. I don't know what else to use. All my files are set up with these two. What a pain!
This error appears in the MS Word app -- part of MS Office -- not the Office website in a Firefox tab?
Does it help to make Safari your default web browser temporarily?
I saw a solution on Microsoft's site for Windows users, but there seems to be less help for Mac users...
I use Firefox Quantum 62 on MAC OS - I want the benefit of the updated Firefox and do not want to go back to 60.2 and I don't want to use another browser.
Is there a solution or a planned fix.
So what's the fix for Quantum 62.0?
Hi Dogmarcopolo, no one has proven that changing your Firefox version helps with links in Microsoft Word. Did you check this reply:
