Why is the? It's a description of the issue slow start up to 20 seconds after clicking the icon, and the fact that I have tried all listed fixes when going through support topics. I fail to see the humor, perhaps you could explain your comment?

No, you did not list what you tried.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

JED6060, I do not see issues with browser. It works well for your. I'm ready to help you. But right now there is no problem and there is nothing to solve. You will get never a start in 1 second.

What is mean "displays pages slow"? What website did you visit? Why is it slow for you?

From the time I click the Firefox Icon, it takes 20 or more seconds for firefox to start. My home the page is the Firefox default homepage. I have tried many other pages they are all slow to load. By comparison, I have Chrome and Edge both work nearly instantly to start, and only a few seconds to load pages. So it's not working well unless it's supposed to be slow, I find that hard to believe as the advert that they "Mozilla" is putting out says it's the fastest browser, yet I see many complaints that it's slow.

You are correct I did not list item by item all the things covered on the support page that were suggested for correcting this issue. I simply stated that I had tried them all. Could you explain what starting my PC in safe mode, to select "Secure" websites does?

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode. If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Well, there was no change. When I booted back to normal mode after completing startup I clicked the firefox icon and it took 25 seconds for it to come up and another 20 seconds to display the default home page.

This is on a new computer with windows 10 version 1803 and this behavior began the first time Firefox was installed and used. I have Edge, Chrome, and Firefox as browsers if that means anything. Chrome was installed after the issues with Firefox were noticed.

I read through the comments but don't get what do you mean "Firefox icon" where are you clicking this at? Is that a homepage or what? And how are you timing the opening of the page? What is the home default? Alot of things thrown out there but sounds more confusing then being able to narrow down where the problem is from the reading of this. I have 1803 update install and have no problem with IE, Edge, Chrome, or FF opening there is always some delays when clicking and opening a Browser they are not instantaneous opened that is a fallacy. And it can also be depend on your ISP bandwidth during what time of the day and how much bandwidth you have can affect the process. If your not willing to boot aka Windows "Safe Mode with Networking" to verify if the problem exists in that or not. So follow FredMcD request if you want help.

My previous comment was in answer to boot in safe mode, so you must have missed that.

The firefox icon, the icon on my and probably everyone's desktop that has firefox that is clicked to start the browser. If that needs further information for understanding let me know I will be happy to attempt clarification but I really know of no other way to word it.

I never said, stated or alluded to expecting Firefox to open and display a page instantly. I simply stated how long it was taking. As for the homepage more than once I have said the page was the default page you get when you first install firefox. Here is a link so there is no confusion. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-default-home-page-has-links-to-features

Nearly forgot, I have a stopwatch on the computer clock I click it to start the timer after I click the FireFox Icon to start the browser so the actual time is longer than I stated for it to come up and display but I don't add the second or two it takes me to start the timer. As far as my bandwidth I have 100mb connection so I don't think it's a bandwidth issue.

Let's start over. I think there's alot of confusion, and some of the people who have responded here aren't sure what's going on.

I'll run through this step by step, please follow all the steps, even if you think you've followed them:

  • Make sure you have updated Windows to the 1803 build, with all security updates.
  • What anti-virus do you have installed? I suggest removing ALL anti-virus and firewalls, and just using the built in Windows Defender.
  • You should also download and install Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org). It's free and deserves a monthly run on your computer.
  • Finally, make sure your graphics Driver is up to date. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

This will make sure there is no external problems with your computer. Also do the typical Disk Cleanup and Drive optimizations.

After that, I suggest this for your Firefox installation:

If you follow all these directions and Firefox still takes awhile to start up, please provide your about:support information.

Sometimes, with older machines, Firefox is just slow though, and because it doesn't use tricks like Edge and Chrome to load when your computer starts, there sometimes just isn't much you can do to speed it up.

Thank you, Tyler.

I have followed all the information you provided. Firefox still takes 20 or more seconds to start up but the pages are loading within a few seconds. My PC is a new ASUS ROG with 32gig ram and i7 8th gen processor on a 100mb connection. I made sure all drivers and windows were up to date before following the suggestions.

If I exit the page and restart it, it's still that slow but after that, it's as fast as the other browsers going from page to page. A new problem that has started now is occasionally it will freeze and when I exit it and restart it wants me to refresh it. This has happened two times since following the instructions provided. If there is a crash report or error code I am unable to find it.

By comparison, I can start Edge, Chrome or Opera and the window comes right up and loads a page in just a few seconds. The main issue I was asking about and may not have made clear in my first post was the fact that those browsers work normally but Firefox, when started, does not produce a window for over 20 seconds. I have Firefox on a couple of my older Laptops with Windows 7 and it works great now sure why.

Hi, I own 3 ROG systems please make sure you always go up to your product page support. Create a Account is easier to get to then, Always get your drivers here and about 4 years from now save to burn to disk or USB as when it turns 5 all those drivers and except Bios updates will be gone.

Please do this always :

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I have followed everything and I'm still getting the random crashes now. I have decided to uninstall Firefox from my system. Thanks for the help but honestly I can't see spending this much effort in it when I have 3 other browsers that work with no issues. Thank's for the advice on PK but I already learned early on here there are some trolling the forums that don't offer much help.

Hi, you say you are still getting random crashes, some where above you where asked for the crash reports please do so now : The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
