Then you have no worry on the bookmarks but, Profiles do tend to go corrupt. So after doing the above you can Copy/Paste about:support to the Address Bar and then Enter go almost to the bottom and find Places Database and click the Verify Integrity.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

Firefox uses the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the profile folder to store session data. The sessionstore.jsonlz4 file is only present when Firefox is closed. The sessionstore.jsonlz4 file is created from recovery.jsonlz4 when you close Firefox and is removed and copied to previous.jsonlz4 when you start Firefox to make is possible to restore the session at any time.

Backup the session files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox Profile Folder to make sure not to lose possible important session data. Do NOT close Firefox when Firefox is already running.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:

You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.jsonlz4 to replace the current file (make sure to backup the current sessionstore.jsonlz4).

Firefox 56+ releases compress the files in the sessionstore-backups folder and sessionstore.jsonlz4 with LZ4 (.jsonlz4 instead of .js), so it is no longer easy to inspect them.

OK, first off, I know there's been a long gap in between when I first posted and the replies and my response.That's on me, but sometimes other things get in the way.I'm only just now trying the suggestions offered.

Anyway, Unless I did something wrong, I believe I tried what was asked of me.I created a new profile, but testing it against the old profile wasn't exactly an apples to apples comparison because the tabs that weren't working i've had around for a while and any that I opened in the new profile would be....well....new.I just copied the sessionstore file over to the new profile, but the problem remained.

I tried verify integrity, deleting the directory and reinstalling, then completely uninstalling then reinstalling and nothing fixed it.

To cor-el, yes, the URL is still in the address bar of the tabs that won't load.I don't know what else to try.

Is there anything else I can do?Can someone at Mozilla help?

I went a ahead and updated to Firefox 61, but I don't think the refresh will be necessary.My tabs appear to be working again.I guess they finally fixed whatever was wrong in this latest update.With that, hopefully, behind me I do have one more issue i'm hoping someone can help me with......my tab histories.

You know, I think a few years ago when ever I needed to shut down my browser for whatever reason I could just save and quit and when I restarted my browser everything would be there.Now when I do that and go to any of my tabs it will only have I think the 10 previous web pages and whatever I had in the tab history before that is just gone.

Everything in the forward history is there, but Firefox limits how far back I can go, so now before shutting down my browser I have to roll my tabs back to the earliest point in their histories, so everything will still be there when I reopen.Why is this and can I change it?

You may be able to check the history settings in the current Firefox profile.

As for the feature to restore the history of tabs - this is a feature when the session is still active. History > Recently Closed Tabs or History > Recently Closed Windows. You are right, they are limited to 10 tabs and 3 windows. However, I use 'restore tabs from last time' in my history and see more than 3 windows restored if that is helpful.

There are prefs to set the maximum number of tabs and windows you can undo.

I think you might be misunderstanding what i'm asking.I'm not talking about the number of tabs, but how far back I can go within the history of any given tab.It limits how far back I can go after I save and quit then restart.It'll go forward as much as I want, but only go back 10 pages....not tabs, all of them are still there, but their histories, which are erased beyond 10 pages back.How can I change it so my entire back history is still there like my forward history?

The tab history is controlled via this pref:

• browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_back (default = 10)
• browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_forward (default = -1; no limit)

Did changing these preferences in the about:config page change the default session recovery tab history?

Sorry for taking so long to reply.I really should do better.Anyway, unfortunately it didn't work.I changed the value of browser.sessionstore.max_serialize_back to -1 and it still did the same thing.I don't understand it.Is there some way to contact Mozilla and bring this to there attention, so they can maybe fix it in a future update?

to 20? or 30?

I think you are in the best position to experiment.

Note that a number larger than 50 is unlikely to work due to a different limitation:

browser.sessionhistory.max_entries (default = 50)

Wow!Thanx for the tip.Setting it to 30 worked, so I tried 50 which didn't work as well.It went back farther, but not as far as 30, so I set it at 49.That seems to be the sweet spot.This will do, but I still wish it was unlimited in how many web pages I could go back.

I don't know if you work for Mozilla, or are in contact with them, but if you are, could you just pass that along to them?I don't know how, or where to put things in their suggestion box, so to speak.

Maybe increase the other preference from 50 to 75 to see whether that makes 50 or 60 work for the first preference?

I personally open a lot of separate tabs; I wouldn't trust one tab to keep track of 50 pages, but it may depend on the site you're using.
