When will Firefox Quantum make session management available ?

Session management (i.e. saving a set of tabs for later use) is a fundamental browser function like bookmarking. Till now I have used the Session Manager add-on. That has now been torpedoed by Firefox Quantum so I've had to revert to an earlier version of Firefox.

Question: Is there any intention to build session management into Quantum or future versions of Firefox ?

P.S. There is, of course, a pseudo-session-management workaround as a stopgap until session management is restored: create a bookmark folder, give it the name of the session you want to save, mouse all the tabs from that session into the folder, then fire up the session by right-clicking on the folder and selecting Open All in Tabs. But this needs more steps than the traditional session management procedure.
