Since installing the Desktop version of Firefox the browser has slowed down to a crawl.

I have tried the various fixes that have been proposed and still not able to speed up the web browser at all. Trying to scroll with the mouse stalls and then finally moves either up of down the page. Opening new browser windows takes longer than usual since the update. Even typing is slow to appear even while I am typing this note. I have saved the information page in .pdf format and unable to save in an image file.

So there are a few things:

  • First, you have both Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin. You only need one. Having two adblockers will slow down Firefox, and cause issues loading pages. I personally would suggest you use uBlock, but please just use one.
  • Please also see if there are any updates for your graphics card. Having old graphics drivers can cause issues in Firefox. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
  • Also make sure you have all Windows updates. You should have the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update installed.

Okay, to fix part of the issue was reinstalling the graphics driver, some reason it had slowed down the speed of the websites. But still having issues with typing in comments and right now downloading the latest updates that Microsoft has put out. The settings does not show that I actually have the Fall Creator's Update, will advise after download and updates are applied.

The latest update to Windows 10 seems to have cleared the issues up, but will keep a sharp eye out for more issues if they come up. Typing is now normal without the lag in it. Still need to do some more testing on another machine with the dual processors.
